Wednesday 26th August

Wollerton Old Hall Garden & Hodnet Hall Gardens nr Market Drayton, Shropshire

Following our pick ups today we head north to two gardens based in Shropshire. Our first visit will be Wollerton Old Hall Garden where we will enjoy a morning coffee/tea and cake along with a welcome talk.

Designed by Lesley and John Jenkins since 1984, the garden is set around a Grade 2* 16th Century Hall (not open to the public) and has developed into an important modern garden in the English Garden tradition with echoes of Arts and Crafts. Covering 3 acres, it consists of a series of 14 linked garden “rooms” filled with modern and often specialist plantings”.

In the afternoon we will head to Hodnet Hall Gardens and arrive approx. 1:30pm.

The restaurant will be open for us to enjoy lunch.

Hodnet Hall Gardens has been home to the Heber-Percy family for several centuries, with each generation adding significantly to the ambience and splendor of the garden. Sitting above the magical main pool is the house (not open to the public) lying on a vibrant and colourful island of trees, shrubs and flowery enclosures

Stroll among an inspirational 60 acres of forest trees, flowering shrubs, sweeping lawns and ornamental pools, ponds, streams and waterfalls.
