Thornbury Castle, Gloucestershire, Christmas Lunch & History Talk
Wednesday 3rd December
This year for our annual Christmas meal, we are in for a right royal treat in Gloucestershire.
Thornbury Castle was originally constructed by Edward Stafford, the only man to rival King Henry VIII’s wealth and status at that time. It was a display of wealth and ambition that Henry did not take kindly to, and after Stafford was found guilty of treason, the king took control of the castle he so coveted. A brief, beloved retreat for Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn, Thornbury Castle has weathered the tumult of British history over the centuries.
Today the Castle is a luxurious Relais & Châteaux retreat and majestic hotel.
We will arrive ready for our private two-course Christmas lunch in the Tudor Hall with tea/coffee and petit fours to follow. We will then enjoy a history talk by local historian and author of ‘A History of Thornbury Castle’ Tony Cherry before heading home.
Timings: Leave Leominster 9:00am., Hereford 9:30am., Ross 10:00am. We will depart and travel back to Ross 5:30pm, Hereford 6:00pm and Leominster 6:30pm.
Costs: Includes travel costs, a 2 course Christmas lunch with tea/coffee, petit fours and history talk £99.00 per person
