David Austin Roses & NT Moseley Old Hall, Wolverhampton
Friday 24th July
🌿 A Special Day Out with Hereford Civic Society 🌿
We are delighted to be organising this lovely day out on behalf of the Hereford Civic Society, bringing together members and friends for a relaxed and interesting visit. Members and friends are all very welcome to join us.
Nestled in the Shropshire countryside, the award-winning David Austin Roses gardens are home to the National Collection of English Roses. With six themed gardens, a plant centre, gift shop, tea room and restaurant, there is plenty of time to explore at your own pace and enjoy lunch.
We then continue to the atmospheric Moseley Old Hall, where we discover the dramatic story of King Charles II hiding from Cromwell’s troops after the Battle of Worcester in 1651.
See the bed where the King slept, the priest hole where he hid, and hear fascinating stories from knowledgeable guides and costumed interpreters, bringing the 17th century vividly to life.
The gardens here are equally charming, with traditional planting, a fruit orchard and a striking knot garden. There will also be time to enjoy refreshments in the tea room before we begin our journey home.
