American Museum & Gardens, Bath
Wednesday 8th April
Today we head to the American Museum and Gardens situated near Bath, where we will spend the whole day.
Just ten minutes from the centre of Bath, find fascinating American stories, textiles, decorative art and design. The American Museum houses a world-famous collection of textiles, embroideries, weavings, prints, including a collection of over 200 historic quilts and rugs.
The outside garden area shows:
* Recently planted New American Garden.
* The Mount Vernon Garden, a reconstruction of part of George Washington’s garden in Virginia, created when the museum opened in the 1960s.
* The Arboretum, originally planted at Claverton in the 19th century.
* The original Italianate Garden designed by a Victorian owner of Claverton Manor, hidden below the Mount Vernon garden.
There will be free time to explore the garden and restaurant, with coffee/tea with cake before we head home.
Timings: Leave Leominster 8:45am., Hereford 9:15am., Ross 10:00am. We will depart and travel back to Ross 6:00pm, Hereford 6:30pm and Leominster 7:00pm.
