Llancaiach Fawr Manor, Caerphilly

Tuesday 16th July

Llancaiach Fawr Manor was built in c1550 for Dafydd ap Richard. The Manor was designed to be easily defended during the turbulent reigns of Tudor kings and queens and is one of the finest examples of a semi fortified manor in Wales today.

The Manor House has been restored and furnished as it would have been in 1645. All the furnishings in the rooms are accurate reproductions of items from the time of the Prichard’s in the 16th and 17th centuries and many of the originals can be found in the Museum of Welsh Life at St. Fagans. Our tour will be led by the costumed servants of the house as they would have dressed (and spoken) in 1645!

Before our tour, we will head to the licensed Conservatory Restaurant for a 2 course lunch with tea/coffee. After our tour there will be time to explore the Visitor Centre, which includes an Exhibition, Gift Shop & Coffee Lounge.
